The annual AussieFest was a conspicuous absence from the Gunnedah itinerary for Australia Day events this year.
Having begun in the early 1980s, the event featuring sport and community activities had gained a strong following throughout its history.
AussieFest released a social media post last Thursday, before the Gunnedah Times contacted Gunnedah Shire Council for comment in relation to the post.
