Gunnedah Evening VIEW Club members Raelee Bruce and Marie Hobson attended the Zone NI01 delegates meeting at the Railway Hotel recently.
The meeting was chaired by zone councillor Leeanne Stubbs (Manilla) with national councillor Mary Hollingworth (Glen Innes) also present to report on national matters. VIEW National manager Maryanne Maher will visit clubs in the region over the next few months.
Representatives gathered in the hotel function room to discuss the national minutes and other issues facing clubs in the region.
VIEW is a women’s friendship group formed under the umbrella of The Smith Family with individual clubs supporting the education of thousands of students receiving assistance from the charity. The club members also raise funds for the winter appeal and other programs.
The Smith Family partners with young people and families to help overcome barriers to educational equality and Gunnedah Evening VIEW Club members support three students through the Learning for Life program.
Clubs have been encouraged to apply for community grants to assist with fund-raising and the various avenues were discussed, including the Etrea Foundation and Jean Hailes Foundation.
A discussion was held about the next VIEW National Convention in Geelong, Victoria, in September 2027, with Leeanne Stubbs to organise transport for delegates from the zone.
Members are encouraged to engage in the upcoming National Volunteers Week, National Reconciliation Week.
