Three new members welcomed at Evening VIEW meeting

The care and support shown to others shines through at Gunnedah Evening VIEW Club each year when the ‘Friends Reveal’ is held in conjunction with the annual general meeting.

Each year members are given a secret ‘friend’ known only to them and the president and over the next 12 months they ‘care’ for her in secret, remembering birthdays and special occasions as well as times of struggle.

When the secret friends are revealed, it is hugs and gifts and round amid much laughter and often gratitude for the care that came in secret. Members will receive a new Friend in VIEW to care for in the year ahead at the March meeting.

The club welcomed three new members – Fiona McKenzie, Louise Stones and Sue Walker and members are looking forward to sharing happy times with them over the next 12 months.

Special guests were past national councillor in VIEW, Aletia Norman, and VIEW zone councillor Leanne Stubbs who presided over the election of office bearers, with Kate Knight returned as president and Linda Lee as secretary.

Other committee members elected are Liz Ironmonger (treasurer), Aldyth Hailes (assistant), Judy Sills (vice-president), Deirdre Andren (assistant secretary), Anne Thomas, Raelee Bruce (program officers), Marie Hobson (publicity officer), Raelee Bruce, Marie Hobson (delegates).

Lucy Loveridge was presented with her 10-year membership badge by Leeanne Stubbs.

Members are looking forward to catering for an upcoming charity movie day with all funds raised supporting the club’s Learning for Life students. Next month, members will celebrate International Women’s Day, with the club to also be represented at the zone celebration at Wests in Tamworth.

Leeanne Stubbs congratulated members on another successful year and thanked everyone for supporting the Smith Family charity’s disadvantaged students through the Learning for Life program.
