The G S Kidd Memorial School’s charity golf day was well supported on Sunday February 15, as 87 golfers participated in the 4-person Ambrose.

More than $10,000 was raised for the Gunnedah-based school which offers personalised education for students with complex learning and special needs.

While most of the golfers were locals who play regularly, participants also included some school families involved in local businesses which supported the golf day.

G S Kidd Memorial School’s P&C president Amy Elton said the community support was great, while Ohana Place deserved a special shout-out for running the barbecue.

The P&C president said this year’s funds would go towards a couple of in-ground trampolines, including one that would be accessible for wheelchairs.

“It’s an important asset in our community, for children who need extra help,” she said.

“The staff are incredible with what they do.”

Amy also thanked sponsors Boggabri Coal and Kelahers Group, as well as Gunnedah golf pro Tom Major.

The winning team of Shane Allen, Kane Davey, Michael Saunders and Kaidyn Saunders had a score of 53 7/8 while runners-up Tom Starr, Nick Walters, Taylor Brennan and David Hamilton were marginally behind on 54.

Nearest-the-pin winners were Michael Saunders (Men’s 2nd), Aleah Haestier (Ladies 2nd), Mick Sutcliffe (Men’s 7th and Open 16th), Roslyn McDonald (Ladies 7th) and Wil Patterson (Open 12th).

Jon Renton (men’s) and Shellie Sutcliffe (ladies) won the straight drives.
