Spotlight: COMIC HUB STARTS!

Do you love comics, graphic novels, or manga? Are you wanting to meet fellow aficionados?

Comic Hub is a group where you can share your favourite comics, dissect the latest manga, or discuss characters from graphic novels. It is open to all ages and interests, meeting Thursday afternoons from 3.30pm to 5.00pm, with the first meeting on Thursday 5 March.

This will be an informal group. You decide what you would like to do. You can discuss books and share recommendations, draw your own comics and manga, or read in a safe, comfortable place and enjoy a wide selection of titles, either from the shelves or via our eResources. Bring along your device and we can set you up on Comics Plus, where you will find both new and classic publications.

Don’t forget – Thursday, March 5 at 3.30pm!

Spotlight: ADULT (GENERAL) FICTION

Do not let the name fool you, there is nothing “adult” about this fiction!

A more accurate term for this area of the collection would be General Fiction. Housing books that don’t fit into the genres of romance, mystery/thriller, and are neither set in nor written by Australian authors, this sweet little area is the dwelling place of some fantastic plotlines. Take a stroll along the shelves and you may find a book set during World War One, a modern family saga, a comedy about friendship, literary classic novels, and stories evoking ancient worlds, all side-by-side. Where else can you find such variety?

This is not where we put books that fail to fit anywhere else, this is a carefully curated collection of titles that will expand your mind, take you to new places and times, and make you either laugh or cry, perhaps both.

Take a look at General Fiction, you might find just what you are looking for.

Spotlight: NEW BOOKS

Fashion takes centre stage in In the Paris Fashion (AFA BEA) by Sophie Beaumont. When vintage fashion dealer Isabelle Bernard comes across a letter from 1930’s couture star Elisabeth Fontaine referencing a dress design that has never been found, she goes in search of the secret sketches and finds that love never goes out of style.
