Hugo Holmes earned a gold medal while Nate Jaeger earned a bronze medal, as they were among five Gunnedah Motorcycle Club (MCC) members competing at last weekend’s Australian Junior Dirt Track Championships in Wodonga.
Hugo won the Junior 85cc class while Nate came third in the Junior 250cc class, as there was plenty of intense and high-speed racing at the Diamond Park complex.
It was Hugo’s seventh Australian title.
Gunnedah MCC’s other riders – Tai McNamara, Cove McNamara and Isaac Cross – didn’t earned a podium placing but nonetheless put in their best effort.
About 100 riders from around the country took to the 610-metre granite-based track, while classes ranged from 50cc auto to upper-age juniors on 250cc four-strokes.
There was also a 50cc demo class.
The classes involving Hugo and Nate were among the ones with the highest number of competitors, with more than 20 riders in each.
