Spotlight: SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

Just a reminder that the library will be closed over the Easter weekend. That means you won’t be able to browse our shelves Friday 3rd, Saturday 4th or Monday 6th April, but you can still access a wide range of eResources courtesy of your friendly local library!

There is Indyreads, uLibrary and Hoopla for all your eBook and audiobook needs, Lote4Kids, EraBooks Online and REDeLEARN for the kids, and Comics Plus for the whole family. Ask the library for more information on how to access these resources.

We have a busy week of school holiday activities coming up at the library. Singalong & Storytime and Book Buddies will run as usual at 10.30am on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, with older children welcome. Bookings are not required for these FREE sessions.

We will be making birdfeeders, nature dioramas, and fairy gardens during Crafty Creations on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 3.30pm. Booking are essential for these sessions and the cost is $3.00 per participant. Call the library on 6740 2190.

Spotlight: GET INTO THE GARDEN!

If the cooler weather is making you consider donning a pair of gloves, a hat and trying to tame your great outdoors, the library has a collection of books that might just make it a lot easier!

In the Gardening section you will find gems such as: “Gardening Through the Year in Australia” by Ian Spence, “The Edible Garden Cookbook & Growing Guide” by Paul West, “1-Minute Gardener” by Mat Pember & Fabian Capomolla, “Resilient Garden” by Tom Massey, and “Costa’s World” by Costa Georgiadis. Or if you like to bring your outdoors indoors, why not try Angie Thomas’ “Top 50 Indoor Plants and How Not to Kill Them!”

Spotlight: NEW BOOKS

Side Character Energy (AFA TOL) is Olivia Tolich’s first published novel. Gertrude has been Bee’s best friends since forever (and her flatmate, workmate and Insta content videographer). Now she thinks about it, she isn’t sure that there is a Gertrude not determined by what Bee wants or thinks or feels. Supported by the last person she would expect, she must ask some hard questions – about her life, her choices, and above all, her friendship with Bee.

Thursday Murder Club meets The Traitors in I’m Not the Only Murderer in my Retirement Home (AFM CRA) by Fergus Craig. Former serial killer Carol takes her place in a luxury retirement home, but she must keep her past hidden. That’s when she discovers that every other one of Sheldon Oaks’s residents was involved in the law somehow. When her true identity is leaked and a former police commissioner is murdered, she must solve the case to prove her innocence.

Science Fiction afficionados will love Operation Bounce House (FSF DIN) by Matt Dinniman. The colossal Apex Corporation has commenced an ‘eviction action’ on New Sonara in preparation for a reboot. It is called Operation Bounce House, where bored Earthers can design war machines, pilot them and play war games. Determined to defend the only home they’ve known, Oliver and his friends find themselves fighting for their lives.
