Gunnedah hosts RMS tennis round

Gunnedah had three first placegetters and a runner-up, as round four of the North West Regional Matchplay Series (RMS) took place at the Gunnedah-based Wolseley and Mornington courts on March 22.

Nearly 60 players from the North West region took to the courts, although the local contingent was somewhat limited due to several Gunnedah-based players taking part in the State Teams Event in Bathurst.

Gunnedah’s RMS winners were Sophie Neilsen (tier 2 girls), Katharyn Mitchell (tier 4 girls) and Baxter Royall (tier 4 boys), while Molly Murphy placed second in the tier 3 girls.

Katharyn also placed first in round one, while Molly was also a runner-up in round one and a top placegetter in round two whereas Sophie had been a runner-up in round two.

Round five is scheduled for Narrabri on May 3.
