Trophies awarded at Gunnedah Tennis Club championships

Gunnedah Tennis Club has celebrated another successful season, with players recognised at the club’s presentation ceremony and club championships.

Division 1 ladies runners-up Brigid Murphy and Molly Murphy with winners Gabby O’Gorman and Emily King.

The championships showcased strong competition across senior and junior divisions, with singles and doubles titles decided.

Division 1 mixed doubles runners-up Aaron Osmond and Emily King with winners Gabby O’Gorman and Sam O’Gorman.

In Division 1, Aaron Osmond claimed the men’s singles title, with Nick Barnier the runner-up.

Division 2 men’s winner Barry Wilson and runner-up Trent Finnerty.

Gabby O’Gorman was the ladies’ singles winner ahead of runner-up Lucy Gainsford.

Division 2 ladies doubles winners Emily Thrift and Gemma Hopkins with runners-up Ashlee Edwards and Kristie Hudson.

Osmond also teamed with Dale Martin to take out the men’s doubles, with Craig Louis and Barnier runners-up. O’Gorman and Emily King won the ladies’ doubles, ahead of Brigid and Molly Murphy.

Division 2 men’s doubles runners-up Andrew Muddle and Paul Bunce with winners Jack Bunce and Balin Muddle.

The mixed doubles title went to Sam O’Gorman and Gabby O’Gorman, with Aaron Osmond and Emily King finishing runners-up.

Division 2 ladies winner Allie Neilsen and runner-up Georgina Nichols.

Division 2 saw Barry Wilson take the men’s singles ahead of runner-up Trent Finnerty, while Allie Neilsen won the ladies’ singles ahead of Georgina Nichols.

Division 2 mixed doubles runner-up Alex Stuart with winners Ben Nichols and Georgina Nichols. Absent from picture Annie Allen.

Balin Muddle and Jack Bunce combined to win the men’s doubles, ahead of Andrew Muddle and Paul Bunce. Emily Thrift and Gemma Hopkins claimed the ladies’ doubles title, with Kristie Hudson and Ashlee Edwards runners-up.

Under 12s Cooper Cannon, Zac Tunbridge, Archer Cannon and Fletcher Many.

Ben Nichols and Georgina Nichols were the Division 2 mixed doubles winners, while Alex Stuart and Annie Allen finished runners-up.

Under 12s Belle Nichols, Millie Lyle, Daisy Baker and Maggie Gardner.

The club’s junior championships also produced plenty of competition.

Under 12s Daisy Baker, Rex Plevey, Maggie Gardner and Zac Tunbridge.

In the under-12 division, Zac Tunbridge won the boys’ singles title over Cooper Cannon, while Daisy Baker claimed the girls’ singles title ahead of Belle Nichols.

Leslee Finnerty, with Craig Louis, was awarded the Les Worboys Committee Member of the Year.

Tunbridge and Cannon combined to win the boys’ doubles, with Fletcher Many and Archer Cannon runners-up. Belle Nichols and Millie Lyle won the girls’ doubles, while Daisy Baker and Maggie Gardner finished runners-up.

Under 10s Faith Welsh and Hope Welsh.

The under-12 mixed doubles title went to Zac Tunbridge and Maggie Gardner, ahead of Rex Plevey and Daisy Baker.

Under 10s Tyler Finnerty, Jonty Nichols, Nixon Leven and Frank Plevey.

In the under-10 division, Jonty Nichols was the boys’ singles winner, with Frank Plevey runner-up. Faith Welsh won the girls’ singles title, with Hope Welsh finishing runner-up.

Jack Bunce was the Participation and Fairness winner.

Tyler Finnerty and Jonty Nichols teamed up to win the boys’ doubles, ahead of Frank Plevey and Nixon Leven. Hope Welsh and Faith Welsh won the girls’ doubles, with Alice Groves and Rosie Galton runners-up.
