About 75 children flocked to the Gunnedah tennis courts recently as the Louis Tennis Academy staged another one of its school holiday clinics.
This clinic was titled ‘French Open Holiday Coaching Clinic’, due to the upcoming French Open tennis grand slam.
There was a mix of newcomers and regulars as participants ranged from 4 to 15 years of age, while Louis Tennis Academy owner Craig Louis was among 10 local-based coaches.
Day one focused on how to slide effectively, before day two focused on ‘ready steps’ which entailed footwork.
The final day involved game play, while the three days also involved social activities such as soccer, table tennis and using a skipping rope.
“We try and multi-skill,” Craig said.
“It helps the kids’ coordination, fine motor skills and perception, and it keeps them engaged and active.
“We try not to get too technical. We try to make it fun.”
