Local artists are invited to submit creative works for Gunnedah’s annual exhibition in celebration of national NAIDOC Week.

This year’s National NAIDOC Week (July 6-13) marks 50 years of the week-long celebrations, heralding the 2025 theme ‘The Next Generation: Strength, Vision and Legacy’.

Artists, hobbyists, schools, organisations and individuals are encouraged to explore the theme which is the celebration of achievements of the past and the bright future ahead.

Gunnedah Shire Council team leader cultural precinct Danny Hankinson said Gunnedah’s NAIDOC exhibitions have showcased amazing artworks over the years in a wide variety of mediums, from the more traditional such as woodwork, paintings and textiles, through to quirky creations such as painted thongs and skateboards.

Artist submissions open at 9am on Monday, June 23and close at 3pm on Sunday, June 29. Artworks will need to be delivered to the Gunnedah Bicentennial Creative Arts Gallery, with a completed Artist Submission Form. Submission forms are available on the Civic website: www.thecivic.com.au/art–exhibitions.
