Gunnedah shire mayor Colleen Fuller and deputy mayor Kate McGrath have been endorsed to attend the 2025 Local Government NSW Annual Conference in November.
The nominated council delegates will be accompanied by the general manager at the conference which this year will be held in Penrith.
The event is touted by advocacy organisation, Local Government NSW, as “the supreme policy-making body of LGNSW and an opportunity for councillors to come together to share ideas and debate issues that shape the way LGNSW is governed and advocates on behalf of the local government sector.”
Representative councils are encouraged to propose motions for consideration at the conference. The motions are expected to be “strategic, affect members state-wide and introduce new or emerging policy issues and actions” according to the criteria.
Based on the Gunnedah shire’s population, council is entitled to two voting delegates.
The expenses for this conference will be covered by the 2025/26 budget associated with the councillor expenses and facilities policy. Council did not detail the cost expected for this conference.
