The Gunnedah Bulldogs teams are scheduled to contest the Wee Waa Panthers at Cook Oval in Group 4 rugby league and leaguetag fixtures this Sunday, following last weekend’s competition bye.

With the Panthers losing all 11 of their first grade games so far, the Bulldogs are eying another big win to maintain their top four spot.

Gunnedah won its most recent match 60-0 against the struggling Dungowan, while Wee Waa lost its most recent fixture with the same scoreline.

Both matches ended early due to the ‘mercy rule’, which also applied back on May 25 when the Bulldogs beat the Panthers 66-6 on Gunnedah soil.

Gunnedah’s reserve graders and U18s have a bye this weekend, while the women’s rugby league and leaguetag teams are expected to play.

Gunnedah’s women’s rugby league team has had three wins and a loss – having won on forfeit in the previous round – while Wee Waa has had two victories and a defeat.

Gunnedah’s leaguetaggers will seek a big victory to remain in contention for a top four spot, with the Panthers sitting in second-last place.

The Bulldogs trounced Wee Waa 48-0 when the leaguetag teams met earlier in the year.
