Gunnedah is set to again become a vibrant hub of creativity with the 54th Annual Art and Ceramics Exhibition.
Presented by Arts Gunnedah, this year’s exhibition promises to be a spectacular display of local and regional artistic talent, featuring a diverse collection of paintings, sculptures, and ceramics.
The exhibition will officially open with a special gala on Friday, August 15, starting 6pm, at the Creative Arts Gallery in Chandos Street. This event will provide an exclusive first look at the artworks and a chance to mingle with the artists. The community is invited to witness the announcement of the prize winners and celebrate the incredible artistic skill on display. The official opening will include an optional ‘black and white’ dress theme.
This year’s judging panel features two highly respected figures in the arts community: Bridget Guthrie, from the Tamworth Regional Gallery, who will be judging the art, and Michael Evans, who runs the Chaucer on Bridge Street Gallery in Uralla, will be judging the ceramics. Michael is well-known for his popular pottery workshops and brings a wealth of expertise to the judging. With a $500 first prize available in many categories, the competition is expected to be fierce.
“This exhibition is a big part of cultural life in Gunnedah, celebrating the immense talent we have in Gunnedah and the surrounding areas,” Arts Gunnedah publicity officer Fonda Rowland said. “The judges, Bridget Guthrie and Michael Evans, bring a high level of expertise in the evaluation of entries and we’re delighted to have them on board.”
The 54th Annual Art and Ceramics Exhibition will be open to the public August 15-30. Entry is free, and all are encouraged to attend. Many of the featured artworks will also be available for purchase, offering an opportunity to support local artists and take home a unique piece.
