Chaffey’s Mower Clinic said the community support has been overwhelming following last week’s major flooding.
The Gunnedah business suffered about 300mm of flood water and 50mm of mud across the showroom floor and other areas on site.
As the flood height rose during Sunday, staff pitched in to help lift as much equipment as possible onto any high ground available.
“We put stuff up on trailers, platforms, anything we could,” business owner Mark Brown said.
By Tuesday afternoon and into Wednesday, the clean-up had started as the water started receding at their property.
This was backed by a groundswell of support from the local community including neighbours, fellow business operators and emergency service volunteers.
“We would have had 20 people here helping out at one stage,” Mr Brown said.
“We couldn’t have asked for better assistance.”
From the water truck which helped clean the area, to the local food outlet which supplied ‘squeegee’ mops because of a town-wide shortage – Mr Brown said everyone chipped in.
