Gunnedah swimmers have travelled the state to hone their racing skills and nail NSW state and country representative times ahead of the busy summer season, with competitors diving in at Grafton, Sydney and Mudgee last weekend.
Racing in Gunnedah colours were Marsel Tikhonskiy and Nathan and Shaun Reeves at Sydney Olympic Park, Macey Dalessandro and Cameron and Aiden Sills at Mudgee, and Banjo and Jimmy Fitzgerald at Grafton.
The team trio tallied 40 medals along with cash at Mudgee where there was plenty of prizemoney up for grabs, including in the popular Dash for Cash events.
It was Cameron’s lucky day in the 11-12 years 50m freestyle sprint event, as he stormed up the pool to touch first and take home the winnings.
Swimmers swam close to their personal best times in most events throughout the weekend, given the number of carnivals being raced on the hectic summer calendar.
This Saturday, 18 squad swimmers head to the popular Kootingal Moonbi short course carnival.
This Saturday’s carnival will be one of the last meets ahead of a break before the much-anticipated Gunnedah club carnival on January 3, followed by the week-long high performance camp at Runaway Bay on the Gold Coast where swimmers from six other clubs will be joining this time.
