The final screening of the acclaimed Australian film Addition will take place this weekend, shining a spotlight on the strong local ties behind the production.

The film has a special connection to Gunnedah, with creative Katie Amos, daughter of David and Marg Amos, serving as associate producer. Based on the 2008 novel by Toni Jordan, the project was more than 15 years in the making before finally going into production in 2023.

Like many independent productions, the journey to the screen was a significant undertaking for a small team. Katie played a role across multiple stages of development, including early business affairs, script work, production, post-production, marketing, distribution and the film’s cinema release.

Her work in the screen industry continues to earn national recognition. In 2025, Amos received an AACTA Award for producing the award-winning short film GORGO.

The achievement highlights the calibre of creative talent connected to the local community.

Audiences will have one last chance to catch Addition at the upcoming screening.

The final screening will be held on Saturday, February 28 at 10am, with tickets available online at www.thecivic.com.au/movie/addition or by calling (02) 6740 2266.
