The memorable voice of country music legend Reg Lindsay has come to life again with the release of a new CD titled The Hand of Reg Lindsay, with a reworked version of his hit song Silence on The Line.
Reg’s widow Ros Lindsay said the idea came to mind after Reg was left off the official Tamworth 50th Anniversary double CD.
“So, I thought well I will put a new one out with the majority of the tracks written by Reg and it is going fantastically well,” Ros said.
“It is a 17-track CD with 14 of those tracks written by Reg and I also co-wrote a few with him.
“Silence on the Line was a hit for Reg back in the 70s but unbeknown to me he had recorded another version and it has been in the can all these years.”
Ros invited Jodie Crosby to sing with Reg on the CD and with help from maestro Steve Newtown from Enrec Studios, Calala, they were able to marry Reg and Jodie’s vocals to come out with a superb remaster of Silence on the Line.
“The song went to number one on the Australian Music Radio Airplay Project (Amrap) charts within the first few weeks,” Ros said.
“There is another exciting bonus track titled Bonham’s Last Ride, which Reg recorded in 1985 while on tour in Texas USA.
“This track has never before been released in Australia and we here at ‘Team Reg’ are very excited about this CD – it is a true collector’s item with so many songs written by the legend all on one CD.
There is also a booklet explaining how each song came about and where it all began along with some wonderful photos.
“Ambition is the label working hard on getting Reg Lindsay music back out where it belongs – on top.”
