Students and staff of G.S. Kidd School proudly celebrated NAIDOC Week recently.
The week started with the Flag Raising Ceremony on the Monday morning, followed by many cultural activities, games and stories throughout the week, culminating with an interschool day of OZ Tag on Thursday hosted by Curlewis Public School and a whole day of celebrating on Friday.
The school welcomed families and visitors for the barbecue breakfast on Friday morning.
After breakfast the students participated in many traditional games.
The school then welcomed staff and students from Westdale Public School Tamworth for morning tea, a fire and yarning circle, nature walk, art and craft activities and a traditional story time.
The students and visitors all enjoyed lunch together and the day finished with a sensory session around a crafted fire the students had created and a final cultural story. The school said it was a wonderful week of celebrating and recognising the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
