The Boggabri branch of the United Hospital Auxiliary held its annual general meeting recently with the current executive re-elected.

Adele O’Connell said in her report: “Because of our very successful fundraising and also because of the efforts of our auxiliaries in the past, we have been able to supply much needed equipment to the value of $25,474 to our hospital.”

Included in the equipment has been an AccuVein finder, an Ook Snow SC low falls prevention bed, two CuroCell Area Zone mattresses, all adding to the comfort and care of the residents and acute patients.

Gifts have also been provided to the residents on Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Christmas, Easter and on International Nurses Day, a gift for the wonderful nurses who care for the Boggabri community.

Craft supplies for the activity room and Christmas cheer for all residents and staff on Christmas Day.

Fundraising activities have included Melbourne Cup fashion parade, a winter fashion parade, Easter and Christmas raffles, U3A flower show and craft display, generous donations from local businesses and community members.

The highlight of the year was the awarding of NSW United Hospital Auxiliary Life Membership to long serving member Ellen Eather.

Ellen has been a member for 60 plus years and held the position of treasurer for 40 of those years.

Ten Boggabri members travelled to Barraba for the presentation of the award at the Zone conference.

Mrs O’Connell thanked secretary Noreen Boehm, treasurer Fran Jackson, and all the people who have transferred their mines barbecue reimbursement to the auxiliary, the members and community members who collect bottle and cans, the beautiful quilts and goodies donated for raffles, people who attend functions and buy tickets.

The auxiliary is looking forward to the continued support of the community to fulfill the wish list of the health service manager when they conduct their next fundraising event.

“Overall it has been a successful year and we can all give ourselves a pat on the back,” Mrs O’Connell said.
