Crews descended at Mackeller Quarry about 20km west of Gunnedah to extinguish a large rubbish fire last Sunday.
The personnel came from NSW Fire and Rescue, Gunnedah Rural Fire Service (RFS), Mullaley, Quia and Gunnible to put out the blaze near Mary’s Mount.
The work from the crews continued into the night.
Attempts to contact the Gunnedah RFS group captain for further information were unsuccessful.
A moderate fire danger was forecast for today and high fire danger on Friday and Saturday.
The blaze prompted crews to work for many hours.
The Mary’s Mount area was engulfed with smoke earlier this week due to a large rubbish fire.
