Meals on Wheels joined the Australia Day celebrations with a luncheon at Club Gunnedah to acknowledge its volunteers and clients.

Among those speaking in front of the large crowd were Australia Day ambassador Patrick Wormall, Colleen Fuller, Citizen of the Year Leonie Harley and Steven Hopwood.

Entertaining the crowd with Australian themed musical classics was the Uke-Alypts, but the afternoon proved to be extra special for the group.

Colleen presented Philip Gurewitz with an award for his late wife Moana along with the announcement of a musical scholarship in her name on behalf of Meals on Wheels and Pink up. ‘Mo’ was known for her love of music and being a member of the Uke-Alypts.

“Whatever she did, she did with passion,” Philip told the crowd.

Colleen had her own close relationship with Mo and stated that it was the right time to announce the scholarship named after her friend.
