Gunnedah and Quirindi audiences are invited to a captivating evening with the renowned duo Jane Rutter (flute) and Louise Johnson (harp) as they present a mesmerising concert of classical and jazz repertoire.
Hosted by the Gunnedah Conservatorium, the performances will feature works from their album Pan and the Angels, including Debussy’s L’après-midi d’un faune and tributes to jazz harpists Harpo Marx, Mimi Allen, Robert Maxwell and Dorothy Ashby.
With evocative music from the silver screen, the duo will showcase impressive careers and unique instruments with works by Richard Strauss, Mozart, Bizet, Chopin, Liszt, Brubeck, Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Khachaturian and Scott Joplin.
Louise plays classical gold and electric blue harps and is former principal at Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
Classical trailblazer Jane Rutter plays her gold and silver flutes and Celtic whistles. She is described as one of Australia’s most acclaimed exports and finest musicians.
Jane has recorded 25 best-selling albums, including several number 1 albums and ARIA nominations.
Such is her standing in the industry, Jane received a French Knight of the Order for Arts and Letters for her services to music.
The Australian flute and harp superstars will deliver enchanting concerts in Gunnedah and Quirindi, providing an atmosphere of glittering dreams and angelic realms.
Conservatorium director Rebecca Ryan is excited to have Jane back in the region, this time with harpist Louise Johnson.
“We have kept our ticket prices low for 2025 and we are able to do this through our ongoing funding from the NSW Department of Education,” Ms Ryan said.
“We believe everyone has the right to see world class music in their own home town and we hope that by bringing artists of this calibre to Gunnedah we will inspire the next generation of musicians.
“Jane is also passionate about creating an environment where are all are welcomed and can enjoy the music.”
The Quirindi concert will be held on Saturday, February 22, from 7-8.30pm. The Gunnedah concert will be held Sunday, February 23, from 5-6.30pm at Gunnedah Town Hall.
