New running rails are being installed at the Gunnedah-based Riverside Racecourse, with an inside rail completed earlier this week before work began on the outside rail.

Gunnedah Jockey Club employees and volunteers are managing the project, which is partially funded by Country Racing New South Wales.

The state-of-the-art system is expected to bring about a more professional look, as well as enhance safety for horses and jockeys.

The next race meet in Gunnedah will be the Boggabri Cup on March 15.
