Twenty-one debutantes and their partners participated in the 48th Gunnedah West Rotary Debutante Ball last Friday.

The Gunnedah Town Hall was decorated in twinkling lights to emulate the theme of a Starry Night.

The young men and women spent weeks learning dances choreographed by Jason Elliott.

They performed the traditional Pride of Erin Waltz to Iris and danced to House Party.

The crowd adored flower girl Brielle and page boy Freddie, daughter and son of Murray and Sarah O’Keefe.

About 250 friends and family members of participants were guests at the hall with emcee Rotarian Kel Wise.

Debutants were introduced by Gunnedah High School teacher and Rotarian Nathan Moore and were received into the community by Gunnedah Shire Council mayor Colleen Fuller, matron of honour Teresa Boyd and Rotary Club of Gunnedah West president Marg Amos, who was also part of the organising committee. Other members included Jodie Vince, Prue Kesby, Nathan Moore and Karen Neader.

Ms Amos said the organisation of the event was a major team effort.

Rotary Club of Gunnedah West, as well as members and friends of Rotary volunteers along with debutants, partners and families combined to organise, set up and run the night.

The Rotary club thanked all involved for their efforts.
