The 1st Gunnedah Scout Group was almost without a cake for its celebratory milestone on Sunday due to last weekend’s flooding. Topical hears that organisers had originally arranged with a cake maker who resides across the river to bake a sweet treat for the occasion. The arrangement encountered some difficulty when floodwater again restricted access to residents north of the Cohens Bridge. Fortunately, the scout group had a plan b (it’s the scouts, there’s always a back-up plan) and a scrumptious and appropriately-themed cake was facilitated by another cakemaker on the Gunnedah side of the river.
