Science
Recently in STEM at Gunnedah Public School, students tested how to create the largest crystals by using different substances. Each team worked well and used only the materials they were given. They had to read instructions and follow a procedure.
Healthy Harold
The school was thrilled to welcome Healthy Harold to Gunnedah Public School. Healthy Harold is a well-known health educator who travels to schools across Australia to teach children about the human body, healthy habits, nutrition and the importance of physical activity.
During his visit, Healthy Harold engaged Gunnedah students with fascinating lessons about the human body, explaining how different organs and systems work together to keep us healthy. The children participated in fun, interactive activities that helped them understand the importance of good hygiene, balanced eating, exercise and making positive lifestyle choices.
Healthy Harold’s energetic and hands-on approach made learning both fun and memorable for all our students. The school thanked Healthy Harold for inspiring our students and helping them develop lifelong healthy habits.
MC Pop-Up Restaurant
K-6 MC families and loved ones recently attended the school’s Pop-Up Restaurant.
The school acknowledged Miss Karen not just for her help with the Pop-Up Restaurant but with her seamless integration into K6MC this term. Her support and wisdom have been felt deeply in the classroom, and the school appreciates everything she does. The school asked Mrs Mac, as guest, to come and share this time with students to showcase their learning through this experience. Thanks also went to Miss Kylie for her ongoing support and work with students in the school. They also thanked Miss Emma for helping support the cultural learning and downtime so all students felt supported and encouraged. The school said the bark canoes double very well as table decorations!
The school has also enjoyed having Miss Nelson in the class, helping keep the class on task to fulfil all the duties needed to do to prepare for the Pop-Up Restaurant.
Miss T was pleased to see students engaged and interested in the learning and preparation for the restaurant. Seeing Isaac come back-and-forth from the kitchen to remind everyone of the quantities needed for the ingredients was very sweet and very important. The school has also seen Kian using new words to help prepare the menu, which many have never heard him use before, which was very exciting. Seeing Logan and Bailan continue to show their skills in the kitchen and their commitment to home economics was really gratifying, even when it became more aromatic than some liked. The school loved seeing Logan, Isaac and Xavier try and, in some cases, really enjoy the soup. Good on you Xavier and Isaac! Cain can now say he likes herb croutons. “We’ll take that as a win,” the school said.
Miss T enjoyed passing on little tips and skills learnt in life to the students to help them prepare this meal. Miss T loves cooking, and hoped all enjoyed the meal together. The school was impressed with the students’ behaviour with all working together.
Students hoped everyone enjoyed this meal as much as they enjoyed creating it.![]()
