The Gunnedah Hospital Kiosk, run by the United Hospital Auxiliary Gunnedah, is back and ready to help with any of your breakfast and lunch needs.
Opening from Wednesdays to Fridays from 9am to 2pm, with the grill being turned off at 1:30pm for safety, the Kiosk is raring to go.
You can find the Kiosk behind Laverty Pathology located at 39 Marquis Street in the medical center.
Often boasted as having the best burgers in town, the volunteers at the Kiosk pride themselves on their fresh ingredients.
“We buy our ingredients fresh from local businesses,” Kerry Thompson said.
“We make everything fresh, and that makes a big difference.
“Those who come here say we make the best burgers in town, and in winter we make homemade soups with garlic bread, and that is also quite popular.”
United Hospital Auxiliary Gunnedah works hard to raise money year-round, making sure the hospital stays stocked and receives lifesaving equipment.
The Kiosk is just one of the many cogs in their fundraising efforts, with various raffles being held all throughout the year.
They have been running their 100 Club raffle.
Last year, they were able to raise $4000 for a Pulmonary Rehabilitation Machine, which is able to help those recovering from lung related illnesses.
The auxiliary members are proud of the work they do.
Helping nurses, doctors and the community receive the best care possible is the driving factor behind their volunteering.
“We want to support the hospital to stock what they may need,” Ms Thomson said.
“Supporting the medical staff so they don’t go without just because they are in a rural hospital, it is also important to me that we fund the hospital for the residents of the community because they deserve to receive the same care as those in bigger centers.”
It isn’t always serious in the kitchen, however.
The volunteers enjoy catching up and working in the kitchen together, saying that they have fun and laugh a lot during their shifts.
Currently, the United Hospital Auxiliary Gunnedah has 10 volunteers, and they are always happy to take more.
