Fierce competition in final of regional three-ball best ball

Last week saw the final of the regional three-ball best ball played in Gunnedah with 13 teams taking part.

Competition was fierce with the winners from the Tamworth club scoring an amazing +14 on a countback.

Many thanks to the ground staff who had the course in excellent condition, and by the look of the scores all golfers enjoyed the day.

Tuesday’s event was a stroke competing for the monthly medals in three divisions.

Michelle Johnston won Div 1 with 71 net Judy Lee won Div 2 with 74 and Sophie Carter had a great round with 69 net.

Thursday’s event was a par consistency with 15 players.

Sally Toppin took out Div 1and 2 combined with +1. Runner-up was Penny Crawford.

Div 3 was won by Kim Avard with -3 while the runner-up was Olivia Newton with -4.

Nearest-the-pins were Nancye Farquhar on the second and Olivia Newton on the seventh.

In addition to the winners, balls were won by Coral Lorimer and Mandy Gavin.

Nominations for the 2027 committee are now open as well as any notices of motion that you may like to put to the Gunnedah ladies’ golf committee at the annual general meeting.
