New clubhouse celebrated with national award from Football Australia

GUNNEDAH and District Soccer Association has celebrated the build of its new clubhouse with a Football Australia Club Changer award.

The award acknowledges its work in delivering its biggest project in club history.

The new facility was recognised for its investment in infrastructure, strategic partnerships and the long-term future of grassroots football.

It was driven by a team of volunteers, with current president Alli Gourley leading the funding applications during her time as club secretary.

Former president Lachlan May and the committee also played a key role in delivering the project.

Club secretary Rachel Batinic said the new clubhouse was a major achievement for the association and a lasting investment in the local community.

“This project demonstrates what can be achieved by a passionate group of volunteers working together towards a common goal,” she said.

“Our new clubhouse is more than just a building. It’s a lasting investment in grassroots football and the local community.

“It reflects the dedication, resilience and vision of the entire Gunnedah and District Soccer Association committee.”

The association used local contractors and businesses throughout construction.

The clubhouse now provides players, volunteers, officials and families with a modern facility, with greater capacity to host matches, carnivals and community events.

Northern NSW Football regional football manager for the Northern Inland Jess Kellaway said the award recognised years of hard work by the association.

“Projects like this don’t happen overnight,” she said.

“This clubhouse reflects the countless hours, hard work and dedication the Gunnedah and District Soccer Association has poured into their club over the last few years.

“Everyone involved should be incredibly proud of creating a facility that will benefit football in Gunnedah for years to come.”
