Three cricketers from Gunnedah High School represented North West at the recent NSW Combined High Schools (CHS) Girls Cricket Championships in Newcastle.
North West won two of its six matches while opponents were Western, Hunter, North Coast, Sydney West and Riverina, with the fixtures comprising 20 overs for each team.
Kallie and Charlette bowled in each of North West’s fixtures while Marnee bowled in all bar one of them, with each of the three players sometimes economical and sometimes expensive.
Marnee’s overall figures were 0-43 from nine overs, and Kallie had 1-65 from 16 overs while Charlette had 1-74 from 14 overs.
Batting opportunities were limited for the trio, with Marnee having three visits to the crease with the willow while Charlette batted twice and Kallie once.
Marnee held two catches and was involved in one run out, while Charlette was involved in two run outs.
North West scored 85 runs for the loss of four wickets against Western, which went on to win by five wickets despite Kallie conceding just 13 runs in her four overs, one of which was a maiden.
Hunter amassed 3-154 and then restricted North West to 5-87, before North Coast finished at 5-88 in reply to North West’s 4-86.
Set a target of 127 against Sydney West, North West managed 4-102 before recording back-to-back victories against Riverina and North Coast.
The Walters sisters contributed well against Riverina, with Marnee scoring 31 not out and conceding just three runs in her two overs while Kallie captured 1-3 in her three overs.
Marnee’s unbeaten knock helped North West to 6-155, before Riverina was dismissed for 81.
North West won its final game by 54 runs, after setting North Coast a target of 122.
Charlette nabbed 1-7 in two overs, and Kallie’s two overs yielded just four runs while Marnee’s sole over was a maiden.
