Spotlight: SCHOOL HOLIDAYS
The first week of the school holidays is nearly over and we are busy getting prepared for a second week of creative fun!
We have an exciting Crafty Creations session planned at Curlewis on Monday, April 13, where we are making nature dioramas. It costs $3.00 per participant and starts at 2.00pm at the Curlewis Community Hall.
Crafty Creations in Gunnedah will be on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, April 14-16 at 3.30pm. We are making CD windchimes, flower collage and recycled pot planters, and the cost is $3.00. Bookings are essential for these sessions, so please call the library on 6740 2190.
Monday, April 13, is Auslan Day, an opportunity to celebrate the history, vibrant culture and language of the Australian Deaf Community.
Picture books are available in Auslan through the e-resource LOTE4Kids, and the library has a copy of Auslan for the Workplace by Lee Bilby, a great resource to promote community inclusion.
Spotlight: ARMCHAIR TRAVEL
Usually, the holidays are an opportunity to explore new places and experiences. Outside influences are making exploration difficult now, but why spend money when you can armchair travel for free? The Travel section at the library has a collection of guides that you can use to imagine yourself in exotic climes.
Do you fancy a trip to the Greek Islands? Visit Corfu, wander around the Monastery of St John or tour the Acropolis. Go on safari in Botswana and travel the Okavango Delta. Or perhaps take in the glorious colours of spring in Vermont.
Pick up a couple of these guides and start making your bucket list for when the world (hopefully) returns to normal.
