SECONDARY school students Steven Walters and Katie Spinks had a taste of local government after taking part in Gunnedah Shire Council’s Mayor for a Day program. The initiative was held during Local Government Week, with the council inviting local pupils to join mayor Colleen Fuller for a day of activities. THE 81st anniversary of the end of world war two and 51 years since the Vietnam War ceased will be commemorated at local services. Victory in the Pacific Day and Vietnam Veterans’ Day will be commemorated at services in Narrabri and Gunnedah. Narrabri RSL Sub-branch will commemorate both days with a memorial service at 11am on Saturday 15 August.
