Can Assist Gunnedah will benefit from more than $1000 donated by Kenway and Clark.

Each year the Case IH dealership donates a portion of funds from AgQuip sales to community causes.

Operations manager at Gunnedah, Steven Tonkins said this year’s decision to gift $1025 in funds to Gunnedah-based cancer support charity, Can Assist, made perfect sense.

“We try and keep it local and cancer is something that can impact anyone,” Mr Tonkins said.

“Hopefully this will help out.”

Can Assist committee president Kate Knight thanked the Gunnedah business for its support.

She said the extra funds will help the not-for-profit organisation to assist more cancer sufferers in the Gunnedah region.

Can Assist can help cancer patients and their families in many ways including financial assistance for accommodation, fuel vouchers when travelling away for treatment and assistance for household expenses such as utility bills.

Last year the Gunnedah group paid out more than $38,000 in financial help to local cancer patients and demand is growing by the year.

“More people are coming to us (for help) and we want them to keep coming,” Kate said.

Can Assist Gunnedah was formed in 1958. The small group of volunteers fundraise to allow the branch to assist local community members who are affected by cancer.
