Anne Cheetham (Richardson) was “very impressed” by Marie Hobson’s history page published in the Gunnedah Times recently which celebrated the story of local rugby league.
“The article mentions some famous and infamous local players and in particular the Spicer Cup,” Anne said.
The former Gunnedah resident also sent a photo of the 1943 Spicer Cup team which featured her father Ray Richardson and others of noteworthy significance in the Gunnedah area.
“The photo also includes Reg Matthews in the front row. Reg is now 101 and lives in Wonoona – I still keep in touch with him by phone every few weeks,” Anne said.
