Gunnedah’s under 11 representative cricketers put in a gallant showing last Sunday as they went down by six wickets to host team Moree at Ron Harborne Oval.
The visiting team managed a total of 83 before Moree overtook it, with the game changing complexion as 15 overs for Gunnedah were followed by 15 for Moree before Gunnedah resumed its innings.
After winning the toss, the visitors lost two wickets for just one run before Nate Partridge made 22 off just 17 balls.
Gunnedah was 6-54 after 15 overs before Lucy Semmler, Nate Ruttley and Jack Wright captured a wicket each as Moree progressed to 3-74 in its first 15 overs.
Wright went on to score 12 as Gunnedah eked out 29 runs in 8.2 overs before being all out, leaving Moree needing to score just 10 more runs.
Rex Plevey took a wicket as the hosts were just two runs shy of victory in the Josh Hazlewood Shield contest.
Moree skipper Sophie Jensen finished with the match top score of 27 not out.
Moree 4-86 (Sophie Jensen 27 not out, Byron O’Donnell 22) defeated Gunnedah (Nate Partridge 22; Jack Cobb 2-3, Edward Hollahan 2-11) by six wickets.
