Gunnedah’s second grade cricketers will seek improvement this Saturday as they continue their clash with the North Tamworth Redbacks on Tamworth soil.

The Redbacks will resume their first innings at 2-44, in reply to Gunnedah’s first innings of 143.

The game was transferred from Chaffey Park to Belmore Park on day one last Saturday, following a storm in the region the previous afternoon.

Sent in to bat, Gunnedah was 3-31 following two quick wickets before Braith Winsor and Josh Langdon added 38 runs for the fourth wicket.

The score progressed to 4-105 but then the innings fell apart, and the visitors were dismissed in 64.5 overs as all six Redbacks bowlers shared the wickets.

Seven of Gunnedah’s players were caught, and two were bowled while the other was trapped in front of the stumps.

A wicket each to Trent Winsor and Jaycob Price left the Redbacks 2-23, before Chris Dobson and Joseph Holt survived the remaining overs.

Gunnedah 143 (Braith Winsor 42, Josh Langdon 32; Hamish Batley 2-23, Mitch McCormack 2-24) leads North Tamworth 2-44 (Chris Dobson 21 not out; Trent Winsor 1-18) by 99 runs on the first innings.
