Gunnedah Motorcycle Club (MCC) member Jessie Johnstone claimed a third placing in the NSW Speedway Sidecar Championship at Broken Hill last Saturday night.
Johnstone was the only Gunnedah MCC competitor at the event as he rode in the junior speedway sidecar category alongside passenger Imogen Williams, who is from the Central Coast area.
Riders came from various parts of NSW, Victoria and South Australia for the championship.
A spokesperson from Gunnedah MCC said it was very exciting to see Johnstone and Williams competing in speedway sidecars.
“They have both been competing and practising at the Tamworth Motorcycle Club where their dedication and commitment has shown,” the spokesperson said.
“Speedway racing is conducted on granite tracks, which is very different from our track here in Gunnedah, with our track being clay based.
“On behalf of the Gunnedah Motorcycle Club, I would like to send a big congratulations to our local member Jessie and his passenger Imogen Williams on their success.
“I have no doubt they will continue to shine in future speedway sidecar events.”
