The Gunnedah Bulldogs and Poochettes are set to contest the New England Nomads at Wolseley Park in AFL North West (NSW) action this Saturday, after the Gunnedah squads had a bye last weekend.
Saturday will be the second time this year that the Bulldogs and Poochettes host the Nomads, who won the men’s fixture 11.15.81 to 7.9.51 while the Poochettes won the women’s match on forfeit back on May 17.
The Gunnedah men are still searching for a breakthrough win, while the Nomads are fourth out of five teams with just the one victory so far.
The Bulldogs had their biggest loss of the season in their most recent outing, as top-two team the Tamworth Swans won by 137 points while Gunnedah’s line-up was a long way below full strength.
Last Saturday, the Swans beat the Nomads 15.14.104 to 8.7.55 in the men’s contest while the Swans won the women’s match 12.5.77 to 1.1.7.
The New England women have yet to win a game this year and, with the team having forfeited twice, it remains to be seen if they take to the field this Saturday.
The Poochettes and Nomads played an unofficial game on May 17, with several Gunnedah players swapping back and forth between the teams. Gunnedah won the hit-out 9.12.66 to 4.0.24 but was later credited with a 130-0 victory due to the forfeit.
