Madden Anderson won bronze in the 50m freestyle at his first ever swim carnival.

Macey Dalessandro and Tayla Thompson after the 12&U girls Dash for Cash race.

Gunnedah swimmers enjoyed what has become a popular swim carnival on the summer circuit, as they competed at the Kootingal Moonbi meet last weekend.

Eighteen competitors wore the blue and white last Saturday, with the squad snatching 30 gold, 25 silver and 14 bronze medals across 114 events.

The Kootingal Moonbi carnival is always a good hit-out for the squad where swimmers can sharpen their dives, turns and underwater skills in the 25m short course pool.

The carnival also provided a chance to nail some qualifying times for next year’s top-level Sydney events, with several state times achieved on the day.

Additionally, there were 42 personal best times across the board for the squad.

The carnival has also become a firm favourite for beginners, with Madden Anderson (9) hitting the water for the first time and achieving his first bronze medal.

In the Dash for Cash events – always a favourite – six Gunnedah swimmers qualified for the 50m sprint.

Cameron Sills touched the wall in lightning speed to win the boys 12&U division, while brother Aiden (9) came fourth.

Tayla Thompson (12) stormed to second place in the 12&U girls event where she was neck-and-neck with club mate Macey Dalessandro who finished sixth.

Bridgette Duncan placed fifth in the 13&O dash, and Riley Thompson (14) came
sixth.
