About 70 children ranging from four to 15 years of age descended on the Wolseley tennis courts from Tuesday to Thursday last week, for the Australian Open Holiday Coaching Clinic.

The youngsters braved the summery conditions for three hours each morning, as it was a chance to enjoy a sport-related activity in the week before the start of the school year.

It was the first ever hit of tennis for some of the participants, while others had months or years of experience.

The first day focused on lobs and court awareness, and then day two focused on volleys and net play before the final day featured match play.

Event organiser and Louis Tennis Academy owner Craig Louis said, “It was great to see so many kids competing, improving and enjoying their tennis in a fun and supportive environment.

“We loved the energy and enthusiasm on court.”
