Gilgandra is gearing up for a huge weekend with the Goin’ to Gil Festival bringing three days of live music, entertainment, community events and plenty of #RealCountry fun to the region.
From the Armatree Street Party and Tunes in Toora, Goin’ to Gil Street Parade, Gil Triathlon and of course Under the Gums – there’s something happening around every corner in Gilgandra from Friday 25 to Sunday 27 September.

Friday 25 September
Shop Like a Local, Miller Street, Gilgandra
Start the weekend by exploring everything Gilgandra’s local boutiques have to offer with Shop Like a Local, from 9am.
Armatree Street Party, Merrigal Street, Armatree
Head to Armatree Memorial Precinct from 4pm for the Street Party at Armatree, kicking off the Goin’ to Gil Festival Weekend with lighting of the ArmaTREE.
Enjoy an afternoon of kids’ activities, local food, community and entertainment as the weekend gets underway.
Coo-ee Heritage Centre, Newell Highway, Gilgandra
The Coo-ee Heritage Centre and Visitor Information Centre will be open from 9am–4pm, along with local museums and galleries, giving visitors the perfect opportunity to discover more about the Gilgandra region.
Saturday 26 September
#LocalLegends Busking, Miller Street, Gilgandra
Experience the talent of locals with #LocalLegends Busking from 10am on Miller Street, before exploring the Plant Sale at St Ambrose Memorial Anglican Church from 9am–2pm.
Goin’ to Gil Street Parade, Miller Street, Gilgandra
At noon, get ready for the Goin’ to Gil Street Parade, showcasing #LocalLegends, Sesame Street and SpongeBob SquarePants, vintage cars, emergency services and more.
The parade will start on Bridge Street and travel along Miller Street, filling the street with colour, characters and community spirit.
Under the Gums, Gilgandra Cultural Precinct
The main event of the weekend is Under the Gums, with gates opening at 1.30pm at the Gilgandra Cultural Precinct.
Get ready for an afternoon and evening of live performances, food, brews and fireworks, with plenty of activities for the young and young at heart, including face painting, a jumping castle, bucking bulls and more.
A stacked lineup of Australian entertainment royalty and up-and-coming talent is on offer, including The Fabulous Caprettos – featuring Dave Gleeson (The Screaming Jets/The Angels), Mark Williams (Dragon), Rai Thistlethwayte (Thirsty Merc/Joe Satriani/Sammy Hagar/TOTO), and Wendy Matthews (Multi Aria award winner). Other acts include The Wolfe Brothers, Tori Darke, Sesame Street, SpongeBob SquarePants, Splashpool, Oompah Loompah Band and BADJA. The festivities will be hosted by Shooter from The Dusty Boots Podcast.
Keep the party going with the After Party at Gilgandra Sporties from 9.30pm.
Sunday 27 September
Gil Triathlon, Miller Street, Gilgandra
The ultimate Sunday trifecta! Take part in three fun community challenges: 1. Gilgandra Toyota Colour Run – Windmill Walk, from 9am–2pm. Gilgandra CWA Watermelon Eating Competition – Miller Street, from 10am–3pm. Gilgandra IGA Coo-ee Call Competition – GIL Library Hub Plaza, from 10.30am Registrations are required and are free.
Participants can register via 123Tix.
Tunes in Toora, Tooraweenah Memorial Park
Make the most of Sunday with Tunes in Toora, a relaxed Sunday session in Tooraweenah from noon.
Enjoy a bush dance, art activities, live music and kids’ rides in the picturesque surrounds of Tooraweenah.
The perfect way to wind down after the action of the Gil Triathlon and soak up the community atmosphere before the festival weekend ends.
