Children from Mary Ranken Childcare welcomed special guest Katerina Haenga on Harmony Day – a celebration of all cultures here in Australia.

Ms Haenga brought an array of Maori items for children to try on and play with. She also read the classic kids book ‘Pukeko and the Ponga Tree’ followed by an interactive Poi song ‘E rere taku poi’.

Children also had the chance to don the traditional puipui (grass skirt) and Korowai (feathered cloak).

Maori are the indigenous people of New Zealand.
