Multicultural Women’s Association celebrated Harmony Day at Gunnedah High School with parents, teachers and students.
MWA president Lisanty Evans shared her life experiences studying, working and living in five different countries since young. She encouraged more young people to live a responsible life by making the right choices and inspiring them how to be respectful to one another in an environment with many cultures.
Some students with Indonesian and Filipino heritage had the honour to perform Angklung – a traditional Indonesian instrument, which sparked the interest of students to learn more.
MWA member, Jo-an Cabanas, dressed in her traditional Filipino outfit, also volunteered her time introducing Takyan – a childhood game from the Philippines. Students were keen to learn and even played it during recess.
Students also took part in salsa dancing led by instructor, Johan.
