St Mary’s College will this week determine its winning nominee to contest The Ripple Effect Community Handball Tournament in Gunnedah.
The Gunnedah school is hosting a play-off between each of the school’s four houses to find a winner.
House leader Monique Hannaford said four winners of each house will play in a round robin-styled competition.
Three minutes will be allotted for each game and the most points wins a place in the coveted community tournament on September 14.
Ms Hannaford said the play-offs so far have increased general handball participation in the school.
Even some of the senior student cohort – who are usually more reserved – are getting involved.
The Ripple Effect North West is a community-led and funded not-for-profit focused on supporting and delivering programs to increase community wellbeing and improve mental health in the NSW north west region.
The handball tournament is being pitched as fun way to connect community with local youth while raising awareness and funds for the important cause.
