MS, or multiple sclerosis is a chronic, neurodegenerative condition that affects the Central Nervous System. The body’s own immune system attacks the protective sheath of fatty protein, called myelin, which surrounds the nerves in the brain, spinal cord and the optic nerve. MS is the most common acquired chronic neurological disease affecting young adults, often diagnosed between the ages of 20 to 40.
