Gunnedah duo Charli Scott and Harry Tudgey claimed a top placing each while several other Gunnedah competitors finished second in the North West Championships at the Courts at East last weekend.

Charli dominated the U10 girls singles and doubles, while Harry won the U12 boys singles and Division 3 mixed doubles.

At just 10 years of age, Gunnedah’s Lachlan Finnerty reached the Division 2 men’s singles final before going down to one of the region’s best U16 players: Charlie Butler of Narrabri.

Gunnedah’s Molly Murphy finished runner-up to Tamworth’s Zoe Savovski in a closely contested Division 2 women’s singles final, after these two faced off in the U14 girls category in the North West Regional Matchplay Series (RMS) earlier in the year.

Gunnedah also featured prominently in the finals of the various doubles categories.

Adalie Muddle and Phoebe Neilsen were the runners-up in the U12 girls doubles, while Adalie was also a runner-up in the Division 3 mixed doubles.

Phoebe’s sister Allie Neilsen went down in an incredibly tight super tie break in the Division 2 women’s doubles final, while Jazmin Hobden finished runner-up in the Division 1 mixed doubles.

The group of Gunnedah players also featured Trent Finnerty, Aimee Hobden, Katharyn Mitchell, Balin Muddle, Sophie Neilsen, Louis Rouse, Matthew Rouse, Hope Welsh and Seth Welsh.

There was plenty of great skill and sportsmanship on display, as the region’s top tennis players faced off at the Tamworth venue.
