Gunnedah Kennel Club grounds received high praise from visiting judge John Rowles at last weekend’s group dog show incorporating Tamworth Kennel Club and the Northern Region Inland clubs.
He said the grounds were a credit to the committee, with the show attracting more than 240 entries from all over the state and beyond.
“These quality grounds and facilities draw lots of visitors to Gunnedah, with the grassed rings, canteen and camping area, reasonably priced motels and good parking all attracting quality dogs,” Mr Rowles said.
A terrier judge since 1962, and a fourth-generation breeder of Fox Terriers, Mr Rowles, who lives in Sydney, last judged at Gunnedah around eight years ago and he was happy to be back along with his wife Lianne who was also a judge.
“It is also good to have different judges each year,” he said.
Gunnedah Kennel Club vice-president Scott Norman said the numbers were down a little this year due to dog shows in other areas of the state.
“We were pleased with the weekend and will host another group show at the end of October with the Northern Region Inland, Coonabarabran and Walcha clubs holding their shows, followed by other group shows in March, April, September and October next year,” he said.
