Gunnedah swimmer Cameron Sills collected a clean sweep of eight gold medals along with a club record at Dubbo last Sunday, as the Gunnedah squad continued to achieve promising results on the long course swim carnival circuit.

The talented 10-year-old touched the wall first in each of his races, collecting a massive 29-second personal best (PB) time in the 200m backstroke which earned him a Gunnedah club record previously held by Josh Spinks.

Cameron posted a time of 3:04.79 which toppled the previous record of 3:07.64 set last year.

Cameron also achieved improved times in the 100m backstroke, 50m freestyle and 200m breaststroke.

Quade Young (11) achieved four PBs and picked up two gold in the 50m backstroke (where he posted a 2.63 second PB time) and the 50m breaststroke.

Quade also snatched silver in the 50m freestyle and two bronze in the 100m backstroke and 200m individual medley.

Macey Dalessandro took time off her 200m breaststroke as she won silver. The 11-year-old also shaved more than a second off her 200m individual medley time to place third.

Aiden Sills (8) came away with a silver in the 50m freestyle and bronze in the 50m butterfly, while Myles Young (8) collected silver in the 50m breaststroke.

The club’s next carnival will be at Scully Park in Tamworth on Saturday, where about 30 Gunnedah swimmers will dive off the blocks.
